The Opposition - History
The club were formed in 1954 as Chase Terrace Old Scholars Youth Club and adopted the name of Chasetown in 1972 when they moved into the West Midlands (Regional) League Division One.
Playing there for 11 seasons, they never finished outside the top four but their facilities prevented them from winning promotion.
They finally gained entry into the Premier Division in 1983 when they moved to The Scholars Ground and in 1990 picked up their first trophy, the League Cup.
They were founder members of the Midland Football Alliance in 1994 but struggled to make an impression and it wasn't until the mid 2000s that things picked up.
In 2005 they reached the First Round of the FA Cup, facing Oldham Athletic in a match broadcast on live television with a crowd of nearly 2,000.
They went not one but two better in 2007 by reaching the Third Round (becoming the lowest ranked club to make it that far) before losing out at Cardiff City.
In recent seasons they have been playoff regulars but lost out to Stamford in 2013, Bedworth United in 2018 and of course Belper in 2022.

Manager Mark Swann took over in February 2020.

A journey of around 38 miles awaits the Nailers today.

The Opposition - This Season
The Scholars had an inconsistent start to the season, winning in the FA Cup before starting the league campaign with a defeat, draw and victory.
Ashby Ivanhoe ended their FA Cup run before they embarked on a six match unbeaten run in all competitions.
Since the defeat that ended the run in late September they are currently on another six match run without losing and come into today's match off the back of a narrow win at Kidsgrove during the week.

The Nailers
It's been a roller coaster few weeks for Belper fans.
The Nailers started the season well, and their only away defeat in the league remains at Emley who top the table.
After defeat at home to Cleethorpes came a run of five successive wins, ended at the Raygar Stadium by Brighouse Town and then four days later Newton Aycliffe won at Belper by the same scoreline of 2-0.
However Tuesday evening saw a return to winning ways, Harry Draper securing a brace as the Nailers won at Carlton Town.
Draper is clear as leading scorer with eleven, while Nat Crofts has five and Curtis Burrows three, the same as Jacob Gratton before his move to Worksop. Keaton August and Luke Rawson have two each and a further six players sit on one apiece.

Head to Head
The Scholars and the Nailers have met on 23 occasions, with the first being in September 2004 and the most recent being the most memorable, Belper's playoff win at Chasetown in April 2022.
The first four meetings were all in the FA Cup, ties that had to be settled in replays and Belper actually started well in the head to head, losing only two of the first ten.
However since a 4-1 defeat at Belper in January 2014, we have only won two out of thirteen encounters.
One of these was a 3-1 victory in November 2015 thanks to an Evan Garnett hat trick.
The other is one of the most important days in Belper's recent history.
The Nailers travelled to Chasetown having caused an upset at Stamford in the playoff semi-finals and Riece Bertram's 49th minute goal secured promotion.
Belper had failed to score in their previous four matches against Chasetown and had lost six in a row.
Overall Belper's record reads: P 23 W 7 D 6 L 10 F 28 A 38.
(17 x League (inc. one playoff match), 4 x FA Cup, 1 x Presidents Cup, 1 x NPL League Cup)
