I thought for the first forty five minutes they were far the better side, they had territory in the game and pushed us back a little bit. And probably for the second or third game we didn’t land on enough second balls for my liking.
There was something missing; I don’t know what it was, I’m trying to put my finger on it I’ll watch the video back. Yes it just didn’t feel as though we were at the races again and we’ve done that a few times but still keep coming away with results.
It’s all that matters today in a cup tie, its all about getting through, but the bigger picture is that we’ve got a bit of work to do. Drapes at the minute is the difference for us isn’t he? I said to the players before the game we rely a little bit too heavily on keeping tight at the back and having a good back four, and Draper.
We’ve only conceded one goal or zero goals in most of our games and we’ve not let many in, but we’ve not scored too many at the other end of the pitch. Our goal difference in the league for example is not massive but we’ve got the points.
Games are nip and tuck and we’ve not blown anyone away, but likewise we hang in games while we’re not great. So we’re at a kind of tipping point at the minute and against the better sides we’ve still got to up it big time, but it is about results at the end of the day and by hook or by crook we’re picking them up.
At the end of the day It's a good chance for lads to show what they can do, it’s a bigger stage every round that you go through. For us it’s about a game at a time; we’ve got league games to come now thick and fast. Liversedge, and Dunston on Saturday, two very tricky games so we’ll rest up and recover.
We’re going to need to use the squad. Keaton would have been disappointed (at being left out) after starting last week after coming out of the team again today.
All I want is for the lads to prove me wrong, and he’s come on the pitch and scored. Ben Rhodes missed out last week at Ossett but he came in and did really well. Keaton would have been disappointed to have been left out but came on and changed the game.
Today Rawson came on and (also) changed the game; he came on and got hold of it, put Keaton in behind and the two subs combined to change the score. The bench is affecting games for us at the minute and we’re going to need everybody, so we rest up and see what Tuesday brings but we need to raise it another gear.
