'I’m delighted with three clean sheets on the spin

I’m delighted with three clean sheets on the spin. I would say that Grimsby are a well drilled team, and I know their manager well. He gets them set up properly and we always knew it was going to be a really tough game.

It panned out the way we expected in the first half; it was a bit cagey, but I felt that the longer the game went on and if we came in at nil, nil at half time it’s no problem because we can turn the screw in the second half if we have to.

I think we started both halves really well and could have been one nil up in the first half and we had a one v one and not quite latched on to it. We obviously hit the post from a throw into the box and caused problems all afternoon.

We started the second half really well again and by the end, without being disrespectful we could have had four or five.

(Regarding the new signings), Louis is solid; he’s thirty-two/ thirty-three and been around the block. He’s probably played over five hundred games at this level and knows these leagues inside out and he’s been my captain previously.

So, I know exactly what I’m getting with Keenan. You get no nonsense; you get someone who uses the ball well and just gets it when he makes good decisions and puts (the ball) in areas. He put a nice pass into Terry to set up our second goal.

I actually thought Terry was brilliant when he came on and he changed the game a little bit. Before, Rawson and Drapes did well as a pair, but we just thought we could stretch them a bit more and cause some more problems that way.

We also thought that they might come on strong in the last twenty or twenty-five minutes, and when they defend the halfway line, Terry’s pace in behind is going to be a threat.

So, if anything I thought he was a bit too honest today. I thought he could have probably gone himself a couple of times but he’s new to the squad and he probably thought he ought to play the other lads in and I think on another day he might have backed himself a little more and might have got himself a goal.

We’re pleased with what he’s done and its another good result for us and we’ve just got to keep going.

I say this all the time that we’ve got quality in abundance, and I almost don’t worry about that side of the game because its about what you do off the ball. Kelan works his socks off; he’s up and down, he’s in and out, around and about, he never stops.

I’m on at him all the time; he’s got a good attitude, and he just keeps going. He’s done two step overs and quality with the delivery, and like I keep saying, if you put the ball in there for Drapes and Rawson, they’re going to score goals.

You’ve got to beat the first man, and he does that very well with both feet. He’s coming off disappointed because he’s desperate for a goal. He’s contributed in other ways and at the end of the game when you’ve got to see it out you want him on the pitch as well.
