Krystof Kotylo will make a surprise return to the Belper Town starting 11 when they face Market Drayton Town tomorrow.

Kotylo retired from football at the start of the season but joint managers Andy Carney and Danny Hudson have persuaded the 32-year-old midfielder to re-think.

He replaced Simon Mirfin after only 28 minutes of Tuesday's Derbyshire Senior Cup semi-final win over Ilkeston Town and Carney is glad to have him back.

"Kris is a teacher and has a lot of work to do with Ofsted," said Carney.

"He couldn't commit to playing regularly at the start of the season, which is why he retired.

"But we retained his registration and he said that he would help us out if we needed him to.

"He has been playing regular Sunday league football and keeping fit, so knew there would be no problems with regards to fitness.

"I rang him about three hours before Tuesday night's game and he said he'd come and sit on the bench – and it's a good job he did because we needed him only half an hour into the game.

"Simon Mirfin jarred his knee and has pulled the ligaments, so Kris will replace him for the Market Drayton game."

Belper have secured the services of striker Ollie Ryan on a long-term loan agreement.

His parent club, Harrogate Town, can call the player back if they need to but Carney is delighted to have the former Ilkeston Town player at Christchurch Meadow, hopefully until the end of the season.

Jordan Hall will play his last game for the Nailers tomorrow before returning to Alfreton Town and Carney hopes to make a new signing before the game.

Matt Telling is still unavailable due to work commitments, while Ryan Hindley is suspended.

Meanwhile, defender Mark Barnard and striker Ant Wilson both played for Belper's reserves in midweek.

"They will probably play another game for the reserves before coming back to us," said Carney.

"Mark played 60 minutes and did OK, which is great news after his operation in the summer to repair cruciate knee ligament damage."
